LASK Linz vs Besiktas Analysis for Prediction

Besiktas could have done better in the first leg and their 1-0 win keeps this tie in balance as they travel to Linz for the second leg.

LASK Linz thrashed Norwegian side Lillestrom 4-0 at this stadium in the previous round of the competition will be confident as well. Thus, the stage is set for an intriguing contest.

Besiktas certainly have better players, but LASK is the sort of team that can give serious problems with quick break. The Turkish club have kept just 3 clean sheets in their last 23 away games in Europa League. So, you know the way to go here.

LASK Linz vs Besiktas Preview

Besiktas expectedly stormed past minnows B36 of Faroese Islands and they are now two steps away from the Europa League group phase.

The Black eagles will have a much more serious rival in the third round, but they are still massive favourites coming into it and anything but a comprehensive victory for them against LASK would represent a huge surprise.

The 2016/17 Super Lig champions had a dismal campaign in the previous term of their domestic league.

Not only had they failed to defend the crown, but they even couldn’t make it to the Champions League where they had a decent success last year, advancing from the group stage past Monaco, Porto and RB Leipzig.

Senol Gunes is still the head coach and the team enters the new campaign with the highest ambitions after keeping hold of the likes of Ricardo Quaresma, Ryan Babel, Jermaine Lens, Alvaro Negredo and Vagner Love this summer.

LASK took advantage of a slower Lillestrom’s form to storm past the Norwegian outfit 6-1 on aggregate in the previous round of Europa League.

Thomas Goiginger was the man who inspired such success with three goals over two legs and he will be the one to pay a special attention to here.

Nevertheless, the head coach Oliver Glasner can’t quite be thrilled with the start to the new Bundesliga campaign as his men took only one point from the opening two games against Salzburg and S. Polten.

LASK’s defensive line will be under a huge pressure here against Besiktas who have a star-studded attack.

The most recent acquisition Cyle Larin scored a hat-trick in the second leg against B36 and such performance might have earned him the starting lineup for the LASK tie.
