Barcelona vs Napoli
Date: Saturday, 8 August 2020
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Camp Nou.
The game takes place at the Camp Nou, and that will be the biggest factor in determining the outcome. The Catalans have been unbeaten at home in this competition since 2013, and now more than ever, they need a win in the CL.
The team has been in shambles for quite some time, and has been the butt of jokes of several trolls and critics. They desperately want to shut all of them up, and come Saturday, Lionel Messi and co will be ready for that.
Contrary from before, they are not the favorites to lift the trophy this season, and that should ease some pressure off them, as they could play without worry.
Moreover, they have had enough rest, as the La Liga was wound up early, whereas the Serie came to an end just last week – and Gennaro Gattuso’s men literally are over-worked at this point.
Furthermore, the first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw, and the Spanish contingent had slotted in the invaluable away goal- which should prove to be the difference this weekend.
Expect Barcelona to be given a run for their money – but at the end, they are going to take their place in the Quarters.
Barcelona vs Napoli: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw, which took place in Italy.
- Before that, these two had met four times on the pitch – all of them friendlies though.
- Quique Setien’s men had won three of those – with two of them coming for four-goal margins.
- Only once have Gattuso’s men kept a clean sheet against this rival (in a friendly).
Barcelona vs Napoli: Prediction
The Italians had drawn first blood with a goal in the first half. However, the guests hit back with an equalizer via Antoine Griezmann in the next half.
As things stand, Setien’s men have the upper hand. They are at the Camp Nou, where they have been almost unbeatable in the CL for the past several years, and on top of that, they have scored an away goal in the first leg.
As such, Gattuso’s men will have to score at least once to progress, and this will force them to go looking for a goal. Barca, who have won nine of their former eleven home appearances, will make use of their wide pitch, and score at least once to ease some pressure off them.
Later, towards the end of the game, when the guests are under enormous pressure to score, the hosts should find one more goal at the least, to put the game to the bed.
