Augsburg and Middlesbrough will test each other in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday afternoon at Sportplatz Bad Worishofen. It will only be the third check for both sides who are yet to play a number of matches before seasons in Bundesliga and Championship begin in August.
Fuggerstadter finished the previous term of Bundesliga in the bottom half of the standings, but their survival in the elite class never came in question. The main problem was holding things tight at the back and it will be interesting to see if the clash with Boro will reveal any upsides on this field.
The visitors were just a couple of games short of earning the promotion to the elite class of the English football last year. They secured the top-sic finish which was enough for the Championship play-offs, but Aston Villa were better by a single goal over two semi-final legs there.

Augsburg’s squad will see a number of changes ahead of the new Bundesliga season. Winger Andre Hahn is the most recent acquisition and it will be interesting to see whether he will get some minutes on the pitch against Middlesbrough.
The English outfit strengthened their defensive line significantly by signing the likes of Paddy McNair and Aden Flint for the total of just below €14m. Martin Braithwaite also came back from loan, but his appearance against Augsburg will be under question.
Boro played very tight games against Sturm Graz (1-0 loss) and Spennymoor Town (0-2 win). We expect a similar scoreline here when they take on Baum’s Augsburg. Under 2.5 goals FT will be the main betting option, while braver punters can shoot for the draw.
