Venue: Villa Park (Birmingham).
Aston Villa and Wigan are preparing for their second round game on Saturday. Both sides won their opening games and will be looking to continue the trend.
Aston Villa took all the points in their first game after making a complete turnaround against Hull City. The Villans went behind early in the game but equalized rather quickly. They struck their fatal blow in the space of 5 minutes in the second half scoring more goals for the full time result of 1-3.
The Villans had a bit of turbulence before the season but since Steve Bruce is set to stay the team can concentrate on the main goal – promotion to the Premier League. The team has plenty of experience and definitely has the needed quality.
Wigan started the best possible way following their promotion from League 1. Their opening fixture saw them face struggling Sheffield Wednesday. The team showed cutting edge in front of goal and managed to put 3 past Dawson eventually winning the game 3-2.
Athletic had a wonderful last season as the team won promotion and reached far in the Cup. Now the team has a bit more different task – to stabilize themselves in this level of competition.
