Aston Villa vs Bolton Wanderers
English League Championship
Date: Friday, 2nd November 2018
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Villa Park (Birmingham).
This game was supposed to be between two teams on the different sides of the table at the beginning of the season. Now it’s a battle near the bottom end of the table as struggling Aston Villa hosts Bolton Wanderers.
What can we say about the Villans? Strong team which fails to perform is probably the best definition. The team’s speculation about the managerial future before the season and the following sacking of manager Steve Bruce made the players insecure. Now Dean Smith is in charge but things are hardly better with 1 victory and 2 losses under his belt.
The Villans took 2 back to back defeats before facing Bolton. The side from the Second City lost to QPR last Saturday with the minimal 1-0. The Villans looked happy to control the ball most of the time but every single mistake was punished by their hosts. Villa failed to score its chances while QPR managed to put one in the 38 minute through Wszolek.
Bolton are falling fast towards the bottom of the table. The team is in a very poor run of games which saw them drop all the way down to 19th place with their 16 points. The main problem looks to be the attacking strength of the team. Wanderers have scored just a single goal in their last 5 games.
Bolton took a heavy blow last round. Their fans were hoping to get something out of the relegation derby against Hull City but had to settle for disappointment. Bolton were the active side most of the game but the early strike provided by Freizar Campbell proved to be enough for the visitors to steal all the points.
