Anzhi Makhachkala vs Orenburg
Russia – Premier League
Date: Friday, 17 August 2018
Kick-Off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: Anzhi-Arena, Kaspiysk.
Orenburg look to be enjoying their time in the top flight of the Russian football at the start of the season. They began with a narrow 1-0 loss away at one of league heavyweights Spartak Moscow, but the initial defeat was followed up by back-to-back clean sheet victories over Krylya Sovetov and Lokomotiv Moscow.
A six-point return from such three outings is way more than the head coach Vladimir Fedotov expected and he’ll now certainly be hungry for more as the recently-promoted side is about to take on Anzhi in the first fixture of the fourth Matchday on Friday afternoon in Kaspiysk.
The hosts barely saved the elite tier status last year and they will have a mountain to climb to repeat such accomplishment this time about.
Even though Anzhi began with the surprising 1-0 victory over Ural, they easily lost both of the following ties against Ufa and Spartak Moscow and they’ll be underdogs even against Orenburg here. Interestingly, this will be Anzhi’s first home game of the season.
Anzhi vs Orenburg: Head-to-head
- Anzhi won two, drew one and lost one of past four head to head ties with Orenburg.
- The Eagles won both home matches by a single-goal margin.
- Only one of four head to head games saw more than one goal scored.
Anzhi vs Orenburg: Prediction
The Eagles just lack the quality in the final third and it is no wonder they only managed to score one goal in three matches. Given they are up against an outfit which shipped no more than a single goal in three games, including the ones against Spartak and Lokomotiv Moscow, we can hardly see them improving the attacking record here.
Orenburg, on the other side, have an in-form striker Andrey Kozlov in their ranks. The Russian forward, who bagged 15 goals on-loan at Yenisey last year, notched two goals in a 0-3 victory over Krylya Sovetov two weeks ago and he will no doubt be the biggest threat to Anzhi’s goal on the occasion.
The Under 2.5 goals FT is a banker bet at 1.53, while you can alternatively try with the visitors to win the match at 2.37.
