MSK Zilina vs Copenhagen
UEFA Champions League 2017/18 – Second qualifying round
Date: Wednesday, 12th July 2017
Kick off at 19:15 UK/ 20:15 CET
Venue: Stadion Pod Dubnom.
Zilina cruised past their rivals to claim their first Superliga trophy in five years finishing the season with the 16-point advantage ahead of the second-placed Slovan Bratislava.
The Slovakians will thus have the opportunity of enjoying the Champions League tie with Danish champions Copenhagen.
The first leg is set to be played this Wednesday at Stadion Pod Dubnom.
The hosts featured the group stage of the most elite football competition back in 2010 when they lost each of six games against Olympique Marseille, Spartak Moscow and Chelsea.
The team led by Adrian Gula has been especially impressive in the final third last year when they notched the total of 82 goals in 30 fixtures on the road to the silverware.
Gula will, however, be super worried about his defense which allowed as many as seven goals in two pre-season friendlies with the likes of Slavia Prague and Sigma Olomouc.
Copenhagen have also been far from impressive defensively in their friendly matches as they conceded as many as three goals in a 3-2 defeat to Partizan.
However, Stale Solbakken’s men enter the tie as massive favourites after showing string displays in the last term where they came third in the group with Leicester City, Porto and Club Brugge.
The Norwegian manager lost his star man from the last season Andreas Cornelius who signed for Atalanta in a €3.5m move.
Among the new names, we must mention Pieros Soteriou who has been one of the leading players in Cypriot APOEL over the last couple of years.
Zilina vs Copenhagen: Head to head
This will be the first ever head to head encounter between the two teams.
Zilina vs Copenhagen: Prediction
We expect to witness a high-scoring affair since both teams play attacking football having at the same time showed plenty of vulnerabilities at the back.
As for the outcome, the value in the first leg is certainly with the hosts who are 10/11 to stay in the tie and avoid a loss in front of their fans.
