Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane thinks Cristiano Ronaldo needs some rest to recharge his batteries, but insist it is difficult for him to do that some times.
The Portugal International has started and played every minute of all 34 domestic and 10 Champions League games for Madrid in the current season so far.
Madrid sealed a 3-0 win over Villareal on Wednesday and Zidane admits the influential role of Ronaldo.
“Once in a while he needs to be substituted so he can rest.”
“It’s necessary for him not to finish one game or to miss one game occasionally, but he’s a player who always wants to play and give everything he has.
“It’s difficult for me at times, “he added.
Ronaldo limped off with slight injury on the closing stages of Wednesday game and fears piled up that he could miss Tuesday Champions League match against Man City but Zidane was not worried but bemoans his qualities.
“He is more a team player than people think, he is working very well and defending a lot. Everyone recognises his work.
“He doesn’t just score goals, he’s another member of the team.”
Cristiano Ronaldo remains a doubt for Saturday’s La Liga away match against Rayo Vallecano. With Bale already struggling for fitness, together with Carvajal injured and Casermiro suspended, Zidane has enough head-ache in the musty win match on Saturday evening.
