Zidane hopeful on Ronaldo and Benzema to face Man City

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane is hopeful to get Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema back to full fitness ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League Semi-final return tier against Man City at Bernebau next Wednesday after a goalless draw game at Etihad Stadium.

Ronaldo missed the game after he picked up late injury during final training session to the game while Benzema was forced to come of after first-half following a setback.

The extent of the injuries are yet to be known but the Bernebau giants are counting on faith to get the duo back for the second leg.

“Cristiano felt something after that. That is all there is to it, we didn’t want to make things worse,”said Zinedine Zidane.

“Karim it was a little bit different but little by little he felt a bit worse in himself we didn’t want to gamble on his fitness.

“We know how important both players are for us. We hope they can both be in the second leg but we have to take it day by day.”

Real Madrid badly missed the services of the two attackers and their influence could have change the game totally but when Zidane was pushed to the wall whether they may return to full scale training on time, he said.

“We are going to try and get them fit, that is our plan. I can’t assure you of anything.

“I can’t tell you right now if they will be fit. We have to look at it day by day.”
