Zenit St Petersburg vs Arsenal Tula
Russia – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 4 August 2018
Kick-Off at 14:30 UK / 15:30 CET
Venue: Saint-Petersburg Stadium, St. Petersburg.

Zenit had an underwhelming Premier League campaign last year under Roberto Mancini, coming only fifth at the end of the season. The former Ufa coach (had a great success wilt them last term) took over this summer and he made an excellent start as the Lions dispatched Yenisey 0-2 on the road on the opening Matchday. Goals came in the second half from the likes of Artem Dzyuba and Hernani.

Zenit will be looking to back up the inaugural victory and maintain the perfect start on Saturday afternoon when Arsenal Tula come to visit Saint-Petersburg Stadium. The Canoneers enjoyed an exciting campaign in the previous term of Premier League when they finished seventh, just two places below Zenit. It was a huge success for the team which generally struggles to keep the top flight status.

Zenit St Petersburg vs Arsenal Tula Head-to-head

Zenit won four and lost two of seven head to head meetings with Arsenal Tula.

Nevertheless, it’s the Canoneers who won four out of six points from two last term’s meetings with the Lions.

Arsenal won 0-1 in the previous visit to Saint-Petersburg Stadium, while the return fixture saw a 3-3 draw in Tula.

Zenit St Petersburg vs Arsenal Tula Prediction

We’d say the time has come for Zenit to get back on the winning ways in matches against Arsenal. The hosts will be stronger for the man who exploded at the recently-finished World Cup in Russia, Artem Dzyuba. The Russian striker spent the last season on loan in Tula and this match will clearly have a special connotation for him. Dzyuba started the season well, netting the opener against Yenisey six days ago and he will be the one to lead the line here against Arsenal.

The visitors failed to break the deadlock against Dinamo Moscow in a goalless draw in spite of having an extra man from 8th minute of play. It was sixth consecutive match without a win for Oleg Kononov’s men (including pre-season friendlies). The hosts should be in control from the get go and we’ll back them to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at 1.90 odds.
