AFC Wimbledon vs West Ham
English FA Cup
Date: Saturday, 26 January 2019
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Cherry Red Records Fans’ Stadium (Kingston upon Thames).
West Ham United will get a nice opportunity to return to winning ways and boost up their confidence with a victory over League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon on Saturday evening at Cherry Red Records Fans’ Stadium. The gulf in quality between the two outfits is enormous and we expect the Hammers to storm their way to a convincing victory in this fourth round of the FA Cup tie.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men saw a two-win thread come to an end last weekend when they fell 2-0 away at AFC Bournemouth. It was a rather disappointing result after a 1-0 victory in a brave home display against Arsenal beforehand. West Ham reached this stage of the competition by beating Championship side Birmingham 2-0 at home via goals from Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll.
AFC Wimbledon vs West Ham: Head-to-head
These two likes met each other just once.
The occasion was second round of the League Cup and West Ham United came on top claiming a 1-3 victory in late-August last year at Cherry Red Records Fans’ Stadium.
AFC Wimbledon vs West Ham: Prediction
The Wombles will have a mission impossible to save the third-class status at the end of the season. They sit at the very foot of the standings in their respective division, being as many as eight points shy of the safe zone with just 17 games left to play.
They have been extremely easy to break down ever since the season began. Their defensive woes were particularly notable in last two rounds as Wally Downes’ men allowed seven goals in back-to-back league defeats to Barnsley and Fleetwood Town (both at home).
Such a dreadful defensive form of their rivals will be the music to the ears of West Ham’s forwards. The away win is a banker at 1.45, but we will be brave enough and look for higher odds expecting the Hammers to ease their way to the 5th round of the competition here.
