West Ham United vs Huddersfield Town AFC
2017/18 English Premier League
Date: Monday, 11th September 2017
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Olympic Stadium (London).
The Monday night football returns to English Premier League as a win-less West Ham United host an unbeaten Huddersfield Town.
The Hammers are en-route to one of the worst start to a Premier League season after losing the first three games of the campaign. There are plenty of criticism in the way they play, but the primary problem to me is their poor defending.
West Ham had already let in 10 goals this season, most by any other side in the league. To break it down, they conceded 3 or more in each of their 3 games so far this season.
On the other hand, David Wagner’s Huddersfield side might have surprised everyone by the way they are doing their business. They newly promoted side had shown no signs of nerves and are unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw.
It is also true that they had the easiest of the draws as they got to face struggling sides like Crystal Palace and Newcastle United in the opening two weeks. But the key to their success so far is a hard working midfield that work in conjunction with the defensive unit. The Terriers are the only side in the league that are yet to conceded a goal in this new season.
West Ham vs Huddersfield: Head-to-head
The teams are meeting in a competitive fixture after a 20-year gap. Their last was in two legged draw for the 1997 League Cup. West Ham won the tie 3-1 on aggregate, 3-0 win at home after a 1-0 defeat in the away leg.
West Ham vs Huddersfield: Prediction
Needless to say that the Hammers are in tatters following the three defeats at the start of the season. Coming back to the Olympic Stadium, the Hammers have a dreadful record which could have an adverse effect on their confidence.
The Terriers are in superb form and the only side yet to concede a goal in the league. With the added confidence, the visitors have an excellent chance of registering another win on Monday.
