West Brom vs Brighton
English FA Cup
Date: Wednesday, 6 February 2019
Kick-Off at 20:05 UK / 21:05 CET
Venue: The Hawthorns (West Bromwich).
WBA held Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion ten days ago at The AMEX to force Wednesday’s 4th round replay in front of their fans at The Hawthorns. It was an eventful affair which saw both teams hit the woodwork.
The Seagulls had a great chance to win it at the death, but Jonathan Bond perfectly denied Glenn Murray’s effort to force the replay.
The Baggies are chasing the automatic promotion for the top flight and this extra-fixture in their calendar will by no means be helpful. They are three points shy of second-placed Norwich City in second, but have a game in hand on them meaning Darren Moore and his men still have full right to hope for the top-two finish at the end of the regular season.
This is why Moore mixed up his cards significantly in the first leg at The AMEX leaving his main stars Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez off the pitch. We can likely expect a similar approach here in the reverse fixture knowing it comes just days after an important home tie against direct promotional rivals Middlesbrough.
West Brom vs Brighton: Head-to-head
The head to head stats suggest another draw as teams shared spoils in six of eleven meetings so far.
Brighton only won one game against the Baggies who managed four wins in the process.
Just one of past five head to head affairs saw goals scored at both ends.
West Brom vs Brighton: Prediction
Brighton sit 13th in the Premier League ladder and have nowhere to go (more or less) being seven points adrift of the safe zone at the moment. This is why we expect Chris Hughton to line-up a much stronger side than his colleague at the other end.
The Seagulls are thus worth backing to advance to the fifth round at the odds of 1.80, while braver punters can try with the clear away win in 90 minutes at 2.45.
West Brom vs Brighton: Bet Tips
