West Brom vs Brighton Albion
England Premier League
Date: Saturday, 27 February 2021
Kick-Off at 15.00 UK
Venue: The Hawthorns, West Bromwich.

West Bromwich Albion and Brighton will take on each other in a very important 26th round clash on Saturday afternoon at The Hawthorns.

We are probably looking at WBA’s very last opportunity to catch ground on the Seagulls and keep any hopes of avoiding the drop to Championship football alive.

The Baggies are in a very tough position going into the match. They sit second from bottom with an eleven-point deficit to Newcastle United in the safe zone.

Their Saturday rivals, Brighton, are a point above Newcastle, meaning they could complicate their lives with a potential defeat at The Hawthorns.

Both WBA and Brighton got extremely unlucky not to come away from the previous round’s fixtures with three-pointers. The Baggies were a much better side than Burnley at Turf Moor, despite playing with 10 men for more than an hour.

Brighton missed numerous chances to pick up a comprehensive victory in the home fixture against Crystal Palace, but they eventually lost it conceding the late stoppage-time goal.

West Brom vs Brighton Head-to-head

  • The draw has been by far the most common outcome in the most recent head to head history between these two sides. It happened on eight occasions in fourteen meetings.
  • None of the last five head to head matches between the two outfits produced three or more goals.
  • The teams shared spoils in a 1-1 draw when they locked horns in the first half of the season.

West Brom vs Brighton Prediction

Looking at the importance of the game and both teams’ lack of attacking creativity, as well as the latest head to head record, we can’t look past the Under 2.5 goals FT pick at the attractive odds of 1.72. It should really be a banker bet based on everything written above.

Brighton have played very well lately, but they just lack a predator in the final third (Neal Maupay is not the one). Six of the last seven matches they played ended with fewer than three goals scored as a consequence.

WBA are in a kind of similar situation in terms of attack, but they have not been as good defensively as their Saturday opponents throughout the season.

Sam Allardyce’s troops scored only one goal in the last three outings. We don’t see them doing much in the final third past the rock-solid defence of Brighton’s and the away win pick looks nice at the 1.95 odds.

West Brom vs Brighton Bet Tips

  • Brighton to win @ 1.95
  • Under 2.5 goals @ 1.72.
