Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich
Date: Saturday, 1 December 2018
Kick-Off at 14:30 UK / 15:30 CET
Venue: Weserstadion (Bremen).
The reigning champions finally produced a strong showing on Tuesday night when they demolished Benfica 5-1 to book a place in the knockout stage of the Champions League. Niko Kovac transformed the formation into Bayern’s famous 4-3-3 with Ribery and Robben as wing strikers and Robert Lewandowski as the central forward.
It paid off instantly as all of them scored at least a goal past the Lisbon giants (Lewa and Robben two apiece). We could likely see the same formation on Saturday afternoon when the Bavarians will be desperate to return on the winning ways in domestic affairs. They took only a single point from past two league games and are now as many as nine points shy of Borussia Dortmund at the very top of the table. Niko Kovac’s men were shockingly easy to break down of late as they shipped three goals against Dortmund and Fortuna Dusseldorf each in past two rounds.
Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich: Head-to-head
Bayern were just brutal towards Die Werderaner in the most recent history of their head to head games.
The Bavarians won as many as 17 on the trot against Werder Bremen.
Bayern notched two or more goals in each of last six encounters with Die Werderaner.
Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich: Prediction
The clash with the defending champions comes at a poor moment for the hosts who have been struggling badly to keep things tight at the back recently. Florian Kohfeldt’s troops took only one point from past four league outings conceding twelve goals in the process.
Werder did end the three-loss thread last weekend, but the 1-1 draw to Freiburg can’t be regarded as a huge success. Bayern’s attacking trio should have plenty of space to exploit Werder’s defensive holes on Saturday and we expect the visitors to back up the 5-1 thumping of Benfica with another demolishing victory when they travel to Weserstadion on Saturday afternoon.
