Week 14 of the Premier League was filled up with entertainment, record breaking, surprises and injuries.
Leicester and Manchester United shared points as Jamie Vardy broke Van Nistelrooy’s record as he has now scored in 11 consecutive Premier League game.
Manchester City go top again as they beat Sunderland 3-1, Arsenal remained 4th after being held by Norwich City. Chelsea continued their redemption and Liverpool are gradually being turned into threat by Klopp.
Everton and Bournemouth shared points in a six goal thriller.
Lets see who made it into LeagueLane’s team of the week.
1. Goalkeeper – Costel Pantilimon (Sunderland)
Pantilimon was helpful in Sunderland’s 2-0 win against Stoke City, making a crucial save off Jonathan Walters effort to keep Stoke City from scoring, if he can keep up with the good works and keep more clean sheets, i think Sunderland will be out of trouble in the coming weeks
2. Defender – Adam Smith (Bournemouth)
Adam smith made an unpredictable impact in the game after he was brought in, the fullback scored in the right time, and his goal inspired Bournemouth and he played a good part that led to Stanislas’s equaliser. That earned him a spot in our team of the week
3. Defender – Chris Smalling (Man United)
Smalling was the only outstanding player in Manchester United at King Power Stadium, I wonder what Louis Van Gaal did to make United players play in a dull manner with no attacking flair.
4. Defender – Alberto Moreno (Liverpool)
Moreno was full of confidence in their 1-0 win against Swansea, he was the man of the match with 8.45 rating, 88% pass success rate. He made a total of 6 tackles and helped push the ball forward into the oppositions box.i don’t see a reason he shouldn’t feature in our team of the week.
5. Defender – Patrick van Aanholt (Sunderland)
It an extra effort from Van Aanholt’s cracker to bit Stoke’s keeper Jack Butland, the full back is now fitting in under the new manager, after going past his difficult times. If Sunderland continues with this excellent performance, i think they have a chance of staying in the Premier League.
6. Midfielder – Zarate (West Ham)
Zarate was the man of the match in the 1-1 draw against Westbrom, with 8.27 rating, Zarate scored The match opener in 17mins before his team mate winston Reid scored an own giving Westbrom an equalizer. Zarate had an 81% pass completion rate, he won 5 tackles, made 2 dribbles and managed 6 shots. superb.
7. Midfielder – Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)
Kevin De Bruyne once again played a game of high class, he was outstanding in their 3-1 win over the weekend, he always drove into the box searching for goals, he scored the opener and ended up providing assists for the remaining two goals. He made a rating of 8.97. This earned him a spot in our team of the week and I think he’s in for the player of the week.
8. Midfielder – Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth)
Stanislas was Bournemouth’s saviour at the hands of Everton,if he plays like this every weekend, i think Bournemouth has a chance of survival in the premier league. Stanislas scored 2 goals, with 8.92 rating and he made 82% pass completion rate. His possession is 4.3 against 3.8 and he won 2 aerial dwells.
9. Midfielder – Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
It seems like Ozil has graduated from assisting to Scoring, he was on the score sheet the previous week and now he is on the score sheet again, he was the man of the match with 7.79 rating, played a total of 5 shots and his pass success rate was 99% best this weekend.
10. Midfielder- Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace)
Yannick was superb as they thrashed Newcastle 5-1 at Selhurst park, he was the man of the match with 9.61 rating, he was on the score sheet twice as he ran the Newcastle defence down from the wing, he had a total of 5 shots and 83% pass success rate.
11. Forward – Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)
Jamie Vardy is gradually turning into a goal machine, scoring week in week out, he has gone on to beat Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record to score in 11 consecutive premier league games, he has made history in Premier League and will always be remembered for that, he’s still going and might still score more in the coming weeks.
