Watford vs Tottenham Match Preview
Watford began their season on such a sour note, that they still are placed 17th in the table after a five-game unbeaten run. However, the team has built some momentum, and fans hope the players could keep the form going.
However, one of the best managers in the world comes visiting this weekend. Jose Mourinho is known for his pragmatic approach, and his defensive rigidity. It’s really going to be a challenge for the hosts to keep their nerves on check, as the Portuguese makes his entry.
Watford vs Tottenham Prediction
Watford were on the road the last match-day, and they had locked horns with Bournemouth. Against expectations, the guests delivered a 0-3 victory, and posted a very valuable three points on the board.
Spurs had a tough job at hand the last game week, as they hosted potential champions Liverpool. In the tight-contested game, the Reds registered a 0-1 narrow win.
This Saturday, the home advantage is supposed to play some role in determining the outcome of the game. Watford already have built some momentum and confidence, and the addition of home advantage to that mix will make them even more of a tough opponent to take on.
Keep note that they are unbeaten in their last six overall matches – which included a 2-0 win over Manchester United, and a 2-1 victory over Wolves.
They have also won three of their previous four home fixtures, and were invincible in ten of their prior twelve appearances in front of the home crowd.
In addition, Watford scored twice or more in their preceding four home games, and thrice or more in three of their last four overall fixtures.
On the other hand, Spurs were winless in four of their former five games, and importantly, were winless in 13 of their last 16 road trips.
Suffice it to say, coupling the form of Watford with their home advantage, against the struggles of Spurs on the road – it becomes evident that the hosts have a very high chance of securing at least one point this weekend.
However, as mentioned earlier, give due respect to the prowess of Jose Mourinho, and especially to the Spurs, who are considered as one of the elite six clubs in England.
On top of that, Tottenham have completely dominated this opponent over the years. They have lost just once against Watford since 1999, and recorded wins in five of their previous seven visits to this stadium.
Finally, despite their current form, Watford still have not completely recovered from their awful run from the beginning of the season.
Taking into account all these above mentioned observations, it’s deduced that Spurs should find the back of the net at least once.
