Watford vs Brighton Prediction & Match Preview

Watford vs Brighton
England- Premier League
Date: Saturday, 10 August 2019
Kick-off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: Vicarage Road.

Watford were without a win in their last four games in the league and finished just outside the top ten with fifty points in the bag.

The squad had a much better FA Cup campaign though and went all the way to the finals where they lost against the reigning Champion’s City by a 6-0 scoreline.

Brighton had an even more miserable run in the league last time out, and have no one but their lucky stars to thank for making it into the new season alive. The visitors amassed not more than thirty-six points to their name and were just two points shy of being relegated.

The Seagulls have not been faring well in their warm-up clashes building up to the opening game either, and look far from convincing to deprive Watford of a win this weekend.

Watford vs Brighton Head to head (h2h)

  • Three of their last eight meetings have seen Watford secure the victory.
  • Their most recent encounter finished in a stalemate.
  • Four of their previous five matchups have seen only one team get their name on the scoresheet.
  • All of their last eight ties have been low scoring clashes.

Watford vs Brighton Prediction

The home team failed to clinch the win on just eight occasions in the league last season at home and were able to score twenty-six of their total fifty-two goals here in the process.

Although Watford did sign off their previous campaign with back to back losses, it needs saying that all of their foes in those clashes were from the top half of the table. The Hornets have also been dominating in their prior meetings with Brighton at this venue, and have not succumbed to a defeat in their last four matchups.

Additionally, Brighton are carrying a very dismal away record under their belt. The away side came out on top just thrice in their trips on the road last season and were at the receiving end of thirty-two goals while scoring just half that number.

Considering that the Seagulls have not picked up a win since early March, both at home and on the road, the win is more than likely to swing in favor of Watford at the end of the ninety minutes.

Both teams finished their previous campaign conceding more than what they managed to score. Taking into account that all of their ten clashes each here have seen not more than two goals on the scorecard, expect a low scoring clash to unfold with less 2.5 goals.
