VVV-Venlo vs Roda JC
Netherlands – Eredivisie
Date: Sunday, 29 April 2018
Kick-Off at 13:30 UK
Venue: Seacon Stadion De Koel (Venlo).
The clash with VVV comes at just about the right moment for Roda JC who will be desperate to grab the victory on Sunday afternoon at Seacon Stadion De Koel. The whole football public in Netherlands was certain in Roda’s drop to the second tier by the start of March, but Rick Molenaar managed to instill the fighting spirit into his men who suddenly bagged three straight wins in mid-March.
The streak ended three weeks ago when the Miners fell 2-1 away at Groningen, but the team showed the same spirit once again in the previous round when they held the runaway leaders PSV to a 2-2 draw at Parkstad Limburg Stadion.
Roda JC have been unpleasant rival to VVV over the course of history.
The Good Old won just 2 and lost as many as 9 of 15 head to head encounters with Roda JC.
The Miners were on a run of four wins and a draw in five games before falling 0-1 at home in December last year.
We mentioned above in the introduction that the clash comes at just the right time for the visitors given that VVV have been on a horrific run of form recently. The Good Old come into the game off the back of three straight losses which saw them concede nine goals in the process, a streak which began with the 3-2 loss to relegation strugglers Sparta Rotterdam.
Moving forward, Maurice Steijn’s men are winless in last eight league games and they practically have nothing to play in the remaining two games of the campaign, unlike their counterparts. A win here could help Roda move level on points with NAC Breda in the safe zone and we just can’t ignore the 2.70 odds offered for the away victory pick here.
Since the Miners notched two or more goals in three of last four league matches, we also find the value in backing them to do so here at 2.20.
Roda JC to win @ 2.70
Roda JC Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 2.20
