Vitoria Guimaraes vs Sporting CP
Portugal – Primeira Liga
Date: Saturday, 19th August 2017
Kick off at 18:15 UK/ 19:15 CET
Venue: Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques.
In the 3rd round of the Primeira Liga, Vitoria Guimaraes is hosting their capital city rivals at Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques.
Game week 2 of Primeira Liga brought Guimaraes nothing but disappointment. They had left for Estoril as favourites, and returned home without expected points. Guimaraes allowed their opponents to score nut one, or two, but three goals, while keeping their sheets clean. Three red cards were shown during the game – the first one for Estoril, and the other two for Guimaraes. But still, that is not a good enough excuse for their defeat. They are currently sitting at the 10th place in the league table.
Sporting are fighting a two-front war, but they don’t seem to have any difficulties, at least not for now.
Two weeks in the Primeira Liga brought them two clean-sheets wins. In the 2nd round they met with Vitoria Setubal and won 1 – 0. They are currently sitting at the 3rd place in the league table.
They are also competing for entering the UEFA Champions League. Their only obstacle is FCSB, their rival in the play-offs round. 1st leg, which is their most recent match, ended with a 0 – 0 draw at home.

Sporting PC hasn’t been the winner since 2015, even though they won 28 of the 46 matches in total. The average number of goals per head to head game is nearly 3.
Vitoria Guimaraes vs Sporting CP: Prediction
Apparently, Vitoria’s defence is not in the best of shapes, as they conceded 5 goals in two matches. And it seems it won’t get better soon, at least not in the upcoming match, with Josue Sa and Vigario suspended due to the red cards. Sporting CP is definitely the favourite in this duel.
