Villarreal vs Valencia
Spanish La Liga
Date: Sunday, 23 September 2018
Kick-Off at 15:15 UK / 16:15 CET
Venue: Estadio de la Ceramica (Villarreal).
Valencia are struggling badly at the start of the new season. The Bats travel to Estadio de la Ceramica winless in four league games and off the back of a disappointing 0-2 loss at home to ten-man Juventus in the opening fixture of the new Champions League campaign.
Can Marcelino’s troops shift the momentum on their side with a success on Sunday afternoon?
The opposition will be a tough one, coming in the likes of Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine, however, did not get off to the best of the starts either.
They took just one point from opening three games, but managed to find the maiden win of the campaign last weekend beating Leganes 0-1 away from home.
Villarreal vs Valencia: Head-to-head
Villarreal lead the head to head tie by a single victory ahead of the 43rd encounter with the Bats.
The Yellow Submarine were much more successful in games played on their patch where they won 11, drew 5 and lost 5 of 21 so far.
Even though Valencia came fourth (ahead of Villarreal) in the previous term of La Liga, it’s the Yellow Submarine who came on top both home and away against the Bats last time out.
Only one of last seven head to head matches produced goals at both ends.
Villarreal vs Valencia: Prediction
Javi Calleja now has a very talented attacking line-up featuring the likes of Carlos Bacca, Gerard Moreno and Karl Toko-Ekambi. However, the new arrivals obviously still need some time to catch up with the rest of players and find the right form as the hosts have been struggling for goals so far in the season.
Bacca did bag one in each of last two games against Leganes and Rangers. Given Valencia’s form at the start of the season, we’d not be surprised to see the Colombian forward maintaining the fine spell of form. You can back him to score anytime at 2.75 odds here.
The hosts won both of last term clashes against Valencia and they’ll head into this in somewhat higher spirits. It’s enough for us to go with the home win as the main betting option at the odds of 2.25.
Villarreal vs Valencia: Bet Tips
