Villarreal vs Barcelona
Spain – La Liga
Date: Tuesday, 2nd April 2019
Kick-off at 20.30 UK/ 21.30 CET
Venue: Estadio de la Ceramica (Villareal).
Barcelona is in line for another league title. They already hold a ten-point lead over nearest competitor Atleti, and with just 27 points to play for, is a massive favorite to lift the La Liga crown.
Going on, the domestic double is theirs to lose now. The team is rightfully concentrated in achieving the treble, the third treble to be precise, which would seem a strong counter against the hattrick Champions League by their archrivals.
With their European tie against Manchester United looming closer, it would be good for the team to post some wins and go into the tie against the Red Devils with a relaxed mindset as far as their domestic fortune is concerned.
Villarreal is just one point, and one spot above relegation. They seem safe for now, and with all three teams in the relegation zone under-performing, a boot to Segunda has no overwhelming chance to happen. But it’s football. We are living in a world where Leicester lifted the Premier League title. It’d be better for Villarreal to prepare some buffer of points to ensure safety.

Villarreal vs Barcelona Prediction
First things first – Barcelona is hunting the treble, after the domestic double almost in their bag, while Villarreal is one point above the relegation line. More information is not needed to determine as to who the winner might be.
Still, Barca recorded the last 16 wins in a row, and it’s been more than a decade since the team lost to Villarreal. The Catalans were also unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 games, and the lone loss came in a friendly cup game against Girona. Barca has also scored the most number of goals in the league by a distance, 75, while the next best is just 52.
Stats aside, Barca needs this win to comfortably concentrate in their European quest. And considering they are taking on a relegation-battler, the team will definitely target a huge win, which will boost their confidence as well.
If you are still not convinced, I’ve got two more words for you. Lionel Messi.
With the diminutive Argentine in stupendous form, it’d be a bad bet to wage against Barca. Moreover, he’s determined to take the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Boot back to his showcase once again.
Let’s face it. It’s an out-and-out Barca win.
