Hellas Verona vs Fiorentina: Prediction
The Scaligers are sitting at solid 10th position in the Serie A standings with the W-D-L record of 4-3-5. Ivan Juric’s side fought well in their latest league outing away to Inter, even had a lead at half-time, but ended up empty-handed. They have collected six points from last five games and topped Brescia (2-1) in their most recent home fixture.
Hellas Verona used the international break to arrange a friendly meeting vs Slovenian side, Tabor Sezana, and won convincingly (5-1).
Several players will be evaluated before the game – Kumbulla, Badu, Bessa, Tupta, Veloso and Pazzini.
La Viola will be eager to bounce back from a humiliating 2-5 defeat to Cagliari at Sardegna Arena in the previous round. Even though Fiorentina had influential defender German Pezzella back in the team, the Sardinians scored three in the first half and taught them a lesson they won’t forget anytime soon.
Franck Ribery is finally back in the mix after serving a three-match ban, but Castrovilli and Pulgar, both regulars, will sit out due to yellow-card accumulation.
There are no reported injuries.
Hellas Verona picked up 8 points from six games at home. They have an average of 0.83 goals scored per bout, whilst conceding 0.67. Fiorentina, 2-2-2 on the road, are way more interesting. Vincenzo Montella’s team are averaging 1.67 goals scored per game, but they allow more – 1.83 per tie.
What a tricky game to predict. The hosts prefer to keep it tight at the back and they’re doing an excellent job so far. They have the second-best defensive record in the league.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, usually plays quite entertaining games away from home. Five of their six away fixtures had over 2.5 goals and BTTS-Yes.
This will be a clash between two different football philosophies. I’m willing to back the guests in DNB market and pick both teams to find the back of the net. It suits my 1-2 hunch here.
