Valencia vs Cadiz
Spanish La Liga
Date: Monday, 4 January 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio de Mestalla (Valencia).
Valencia welcome Cadiz for Monday’s La Liga clash, in a match both teams are looking to end their winless streak.
Since setting the Mestalla on fire with the 4-1 battering of Real Madrid in November, Los Che had now failed to win 7 league games, this includes 3 draws and 4 losses. It is true that they faced the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Granada and Sevilla during the period, but poor results against lesser teams cannot be overlooked.
Against Granada last week, they did have the upper hand throughout the game, but poor discipline which led to two red cards came to bite them deep into the injury time and ended up with a 2-1 defeat.
Cadiz on the other hand might be happy with their performances so far, even though they cannot lower their guard. The newly promoted side is 10th on the log, but they are just 4 points away from the relegation zone and guess who is the last team on the drop zone, and it is Valencia with 15 points.
So, things are extremely tight in the bottom half of the table and points matter in every game from now.
The Yellow Submarines haven’t scored in their last 4 league games and lost 3 of them before holding Valladolid to a goal-less stalemate last week.
The team is on a similar win-draw-loss run in their last 4, having won 4 consecutive games prior to that. The reason for their recent slump is due to the fact that their counter attacking tactics are not working anymore, while opponents started to find a way through their defenses.
Even though there is little to separate between the sides on recent form on paper, the bookies are considering Valencia as favourites at 2.00 odd, while we can back the draw at 3.50 and away win at 3.75.
Valencia vs Cadiz Head-to-head
The teams are meeting for the first time since 2011 in a competitive game and since 2006 in La Liga.
Valencia have a solid h2h record against Cadiz, having won 9 of the 12 previous duels, drew 2 and lost 1.
At home, they have a 100% win record during the period, that is 6 wins out of six. All these games saw over 2.5 goals, Valencia alone netting 3 or more goals in 5 of them.
Valencia vs Cadiz Prediction
Despite results not going their way, Valencia have been highly competitive in the recent games at their home ground and with history on their side, this h2h duel could see them get back to winning ways.
We are also expecting some goals in this game, and this is a trend that goes against what we are seeing in La Liga this season. But we are looking at a Cadiz team that conceded 10 goals in their last 4 away games, meantime Valencia saw both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 11 league games.
