International – Friendlies
Date: Sunday, 9th July 2019
Kick Off at 19:00 UK/ 20:00 CET
Venue: Nippert Stadium (Cincinnati).

With the Gold Cup and the Copa America around the corner, both the USA and Venezuela will be looking at their tie as a test of their strengths and weaknesses, with a win for either side possibly boosting their chances of faring well in their respective tournaments.

Despite suffering a narrow defeat at the hands of Jamaica, the home team will be entering the pitch on Sunday with the intention of bouncing back to their winning ways.

On the other hand, a defeat for Rafael Dudamel’s men, will put a big question mark in their Copa America campaign where they will be up against the likes of Brazil, Bolivia and Peru in the group stages.

USA vs Venezuela Head to head (h2h)

Venezuela are yet to register a win against the American side, having lost thrice and drawn twice in their last five encounters.

Pulisic denied Venezuela a victory in their previous meeting by finding the net, after his team went a goal down at half time.

The away team have never kept a clean sheet against the home side in any of their previous meetings.

USA’s last victory against Venezuela came when they met at the Columbus Crew Stadium in 2012

USA vs Venezuela Prediction

Gregg Berhalter’s men look the more convincing to stage a victory at the Nippert stadium on Sunday, having lost only one out of their last five matches.

Venezuela on the other hand come into the game with just one victory from their previous five outings, hoping to pull off a much needed breather before they begin their Copa America campaign.

That however, will be put to the test as the Venezuelan defence are mostly likely to crack under the attacking runs of Christian Pulisic, who has been a real threat, both along the flanks and through the middle. The defence will also have to be alert of central striker Zardes, who scored the home team’s only goal against Ecuador.

The away team have failed to keep a single clean sheet in their last six away matches, which certainly poses a serious question about the team’s defensive efficiency on the road. In contrast, the home team has a strong defensive record to boast of, having kept a clean sheet in all three of their previous wins.

The United States Men’s football team are most likely to end the first half by going a goal or two up and may well seal the game at the end of the 90 minutes.
