USA are off to a flying start in the CONCACAF Gold cup campaign this year, having cruised past Guyana in their opening clash with the three points and a clean sheet in hand. The home side will be looking to record back to back victories when they take on Trinidad and Tobago in the second round of group fixtures, at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Sunday.

The Americans certainly bounced back in fashion after suffering back to back defeats to Venezuela and Jamaica in their warm-up matches. A brace from youngster Tyler Boyd, and a goal apiece from Paul Arriola and Gyasi Zardes were enough to put daylight between them and their opponents in their last match.

Stephen Hart’s side, on the other hand, succumbed to a loss in their opening match against Panama after conceding two goals in the second half. His squad managed to take just six shots at goal in the entire ninety minutes, albeit not a single one of them even being on target. Another loss would certainly leave the team’s Gold Cup campaign hanging by a thread.

The home side are almost certain to walk away with back to back victories when they lock horns with Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.

Gregg Berhalter’s men showed that they meant business when they came out on top in their previous opening clash. His squad will be looking to extend their positive start and are unlikely to let the game slip away from under their nose.

Their counterparts are without a win in any of their last five matches. They have also been struggling to get their name on the score sheet in every one of those games as well. Stephen Hart’s side are looking at a rock bottom finish if they fail to get their act together soon.

The match on Sunday is most definitely swinging in favour of the hosts, who are likely to walk away with a clean sheet as well.
