A section of Manchester United squad is apparently unhappy over the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their next manager, even though the news is yet to be confirmed.
A number of media outlets in England claimed on Wednesday that Jose Mourinho has told him close friends that he already got the job at Old Trafford.
But various first team players fear that this may be the end of their time with the Red Devils if the Portuguese boss arrive at Old Trafford at end of the season.
One player who may be pushed to an exit will be Juan Mata, who was who was showed the exit door by Mourinho while at Chelsea. There is also uncertainly whether Ryan Giggs will fit if Jose is appointed as the new manager at Manchester United.
The news comes at the wrong time for the team who is currently fifth in the English Premier League table and should be really focused on achieving Champions League qualification for next season.
This is an unwanted distraction for the team whose campaign hasn’t gone well under the management of Louis Van Gaal this season.
Manchester United’s executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is reportedly looking at a number of possible targets for next season and it is imminent that he let the Dutchman leave at the end of the season.
It has been earlier reported that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also in contention for the job, with the Argentina boss having the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson.
While former Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand has warned his old club to get things right this time or they might end up just like Liverpool for seasons to come.
“We don’t want a repeat of what Liverpool have gone through. United don’t want that long time in the wilderness of not really being successful and not challenging for titles” said Ferdinand in an interview.
Manchester United will be travelling to Sunderland on the match-day 26 of the English Premier League. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12.45 British time.
