The Soca Boys reached the fifth round of the qualifiers by finishing second in a group which includes USA, Guatemala and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They lost only once during the phase, which came on the last round fixture against USA by a 4-0 margin. However, a spot in the next round was already confirmed before the match as they had a 4 point cushion over Guatemala, who eventually finished a point short at the end of the group phase.
Costa Rica finished top of their fourth round group with 5 wins and a draw. They confirmed their qualification with two matchdays to go as third and fourth placed teams Haiti and Jamaica had a horrendous campaign earning a meagre 4 points. Panama finished second in the group at a 6 point gap.

They did come close during the 1990 qualification campaign, but fell short of the final matchday after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to USA. They only needed a draw to qualify on that occasion.
Costa Rica on the other hand have made it to the World Cup on four previous occasions. They had to wait till 1990 for their first entrance to the tournament and made it to the first knockout stage on their debut campaign. On 2002 and 2006, they perished in the group stages. They achieved their best ever run last year in Brazil as they made it to the quarter finals for the first time.

They are coming on the back of some results which put them on a four match unbeaten run in all competitions.
While Trinidad could pick up some results against smaller teams in the CONCACAF zone, but they normally flop against the quality side like Costa Rica. The visitors look good for a win and the odds of 1.65 is a mouthwatering offer.
