Tranmere Rovers vs Liverpool
International Club Friendlies
Wednesday, 12th July 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Prenton Park.
Liverpool will again open the pre-season period at Prenton Park where they are set to take on Tranmere Rovers this Wednesday.
This will be one of two matches on the home soil for the Reds who are then about to go abroad and feature a series of friendly games on the Asian continent.
Tranmere fell on the last obstacle in the playoffs for the promotion to League Two.
Micky Mellon’s men lost 1-3 to Forest Green Rovers which forces the team to the new National League campaign.
The clash with Liverpool will be Tranmere’s first action this summer and they are hoping for a significant confidence boost.
Jurgen Klopp might line up quite a strong squad for the meeting with Tranmere since the team features the likes of Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan, James Milner, Lucas Lleiva and Daniel Sturridge.
The newest acquisition, Mohamed Salah, is still not with the squad as he is expected to join the team for the Audi Cup at the start of August.
Tranmere Rovers vs Liverpool: Head to head
Mane and Firmino started last year’s match, but it was the substitute Daniel Ings who made the difference netting the only goal of the game to give the Reds the victory at Prenton Park.
Tranmere fought out to a 2-2 draw in the first friendly played between the two sides back in July 2009.
Tranmere Rovers vs Liverpool: Prediction
The 7/20 odds offered by the bookmakers on Liverpool to get the victory certainly do not have the value given the fact this will be their first game this summer.
We’d rather try and take advantage of the higher odds given on the Under 3.5 goals FT as we expect to see a similar game to the one from last year.
Tranmere Rovers vs Liverpool: Betting Tips
The main betting prediction will be Under 2.5 goals FT at the odds of 4/7.
You can alternatively back Tranmere Rovers +1.5 handicap at 3/4.
