Toulouse vs PSG
French Ligue 1
Date: Friday, 23rd September 2016
Kick Off: 19:45 BST
Venue: Stadium Municipal (Toulouse).
PSG have been in impressive form after a sluggish start and are coming here after beating Dijon 3-0. They have scored 9 goals in their past two games and Edinson Cavani has got four of them. The French champions are looking like the well-oiled machine we know them to be but this game against Toulouse will be the club’s 4th in 10 days.
Toulouse beat Lille away from home 2-1 and has now won 2 games in a row to take them up to 5th place on 11 points and just two behind their visitors. Both clubs played on Tuesday and so have had the same rest. Toulouse coach Pascal Dupraz has made an impression on the club since taking over in March and it will be interesting if he plays a front forward two formation against PSG. One player that will definitely start is striker Ola Toivonen who scored both goals in their last match.
Toulouse v PSG: Head to Head Stats
PSG have won the last 5 meetings and Toulouse is without a victory since 2009. Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to PSG and the match before was 1-1 so the French champions know this is usually a close and tricky game to get through. Still there is a 60% chance that we will see more than 2 goals.
Toulouse v PSG: Prediction
Toulouse has only played two matches at home but they have won both and scored 6 goals in doing so. Away from home PSG have already lost 1 from 3 games but have still scored 6 goals. The bookies make Toulouse a huge price to win, and although that may be out of reach going for Toulouse on the handicap does look worthwhile.
PSG have a Champions League game coming up and inevitably it will be on their minds. Their opposition is Ludogerets and they are fancied to win. However pressure remains on the Parisians because they dropped two points against Arsenal. Coach Unai Emery has proven that he never plays his strongest available team before a Champions League match.
