Toulouse vs Nantes
France Ligue 1
Date: Sunday 7th April 2019
Kick off at 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stadium Municipal (Toulouse).
Toulouse are 14th but are 9 points ahead of Caen and only the most epic of meltdowns would mean relegation for them. Simply put it isn’t happening and the team will be safe this season. The problem for the club like a lot of teams in midtable is that they can’t go down but they can’t challenge for European places either and their season in a nutshell has come to an end with still 8 weeks of football to be played.
The club have won just 1 game in their last five as their results lately have been littered with draws. But they were praised in their last game at home which they only lost 1-0 to PSG, and gave the French champions a hard time. At home overall they have a decent record recently and in fact the PSG loss was their first in 4 games.
Nantes have lost back to back games coming into this match with their last one ending in a thrilling 3-2 loss against Lille. The club have not won a game since the end of February, and they need some points on the board. They are a point behind Toulouse so this is the opportunity to leapfrog them.
Away from home Nantes have been poor and have lost 9 of their 15 games and they come into this game with no wins on the road in their last 3 matches.
Toulouse vs Nantes: Head to Head
The teams last met in the Coupe de France which Nantes won 2-0 although they were at home.
The last time Toulouse was at home the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Toulouse have not beaten Nantes at home since 2009.
Toulouse vs Nantes: Prediction
This is a matchup between two teams of equal quality and we don’t expect such an entertaining game. Nantes do seem to come to this stadium and do quite well, and we think backing them on the double chance makes sense in this game.
Many of these fixtures have ended in draws and Toulouse have drawn many of their games lately. So this is the choice to make, and we will also back the more goals to occur in the 2nd half.
