Gus Poyet’s men got off to a nightmare start when defender Pablo received a red card 13 minutes into the game. Les Girondins could not do much in front of the opponents’ goal as they deservedly lost 0-2. Can they bounce back on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Stadium Municipal to take on Toulouse in the second round of the competition?

It is the best fixture possible at this stage for Les Girondins given that their rivals have been very easy to break down in recent outings. The hosts shipped as many as four goals in each of last two losses (to Crystal Palace in a friendly and Olympique Marseille at the start of the Ligue 1 campaign).

Toulouse vs Bordeaux: Head-to-head

Bordeaux have a positive head to head record with La Tefece, but they did not have much success in the history of matches at Stadium Municipal.

Les Pitchouns won 11, drew 5 and lost 5 of 21 home meetings with Bordeaux.

Les Girondins, however, picked up the maximum of six points in last term encounters with Toulouse who came on top when teams met in Coupe de la Ligue in December last year.

Toulouse vs Bordeaux: Prediction

Bordeaux lost an important attacking weapon in the likes of Malcom who signed a Barcelona deal this summer, but Poyet still has a decent attacking line with the names of Francois Kamano, Jonathan Cafu and Jimmy Briand. Only Kamano featured the first games against Strasbourg, though. Cafu is still injured, while Briand could make an appearance in the starting line-up here.

Given that Toulouse lost 4-0 to Marseille in the first game of the season last Friday, we fancy the 3.00 odds offered for Les Girondins to score two or more goals on the afternoon.

The visitors are also worth backing to win the match at the 2.90 odds, while more conservative tipsters can take the double chance at 1.53.
