Torino vs Lazio
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 23 October 2016
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Turin).
Divided by Napoli, Torino and Lazio both sit on 14 points heading into round nine. The Granata and the Biancocelesti are both seeking to secure European football for next season, and so far, both teams have made some solid strides towards achieving that goal.
The Granata have garnered a lot more attention as of late (especially in the UK) due to their signing of Manchester City’s Joe Hart, who has settled in very well to his new surroundings. Up front, Torino have also impressed, with Andrea Belotti looking especially bright for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side. The hosts come into this game having demolished Palermo 4-1, and earlier this season, earned impressive victories over Roma and Fiorentina which see them sitting inside the top six.
Meanwhile, Lazio missed the chance to make it three straight wins by drawing Bologna 1-1. Still, Simone Inzaghi’s side have looked promising. If Torino have Belotti, Lazio have Ciro Immobile. The Italian international, who endured a frustrating spell with Borussia Dortmund, appears to have re-found his confidence in front of goal. And having converted the spot-kick to seal a draw for his team, he surely will be raring to go against many of his former teammates.
There are some concerns in defense for the visitors, with Bastos, Dusan Basta and Jordan Lukaku all reportedly struggling and likely will not be available for this game. Lazio, of course, will be hoping to maintain their long-standing unbeaten record against Torino that extends back nearly three years.

- The Granata have scored at least two goals in their past three league games
Torino vs Lazio: Prediction
Both Torino and Lazio have been quite excellent this season. The struggles of Inter and Fiorentina have opened up spaces in the top six, and the Granata and the Aquile have taken advantage of that. Just like the Napoli-Roma tie last weekend saw changes in the table, this one will arguably be the same.
With 17 goals, Torino are among the more prolific sides in the league so far. In fact, only Roma (19) has done better. Lazio are no slouches themselves as they have netted a solid 14. They surely will challenge Torino’s unbeaten home record, as well as Hart, who has yet to keep a clean sheet at the Stadio Olimpico.
This same fixture last season finished as a stalemate. With both sides having being in good scoring form, expect quite a few goals from either side.
