A surprising loss to relegation candidates Hellas Verona has left Torino desperate for a win as they welcome Crotone on Sunday afternoon.
Walter Mazzarri’s side now have lost two on the trot which have put their Europa League ambitions in big jeopardy. Fortunately for them, perhaps, they have a chance to make amends as they are taking on Crotone, who are barely hanging on outside the bottom three and have lost all but four of their 13 away trips this term.
It’s set to be another close finish for the Squali, who narrowly survived the drop last term, and currently they find themselves in 17th spot following their latest loss to SPAL. In fact, SPAL have now closed the gap on them to just one point, and they now find themselves in a very uncomfortable position with even Hellas Verona, who have 19 points, creeping up on them as well.
Crotone, it goes without saying, will be desperate to avoid another slip-up but not only do they struggle for points on the road, they also struggle for goals. As for Torino, they will be loath to drop points here after last weekend’s surprise defeat to the Gialloblu, and despite having some problems of their own, they have been quite solid against lower half sides. In fact, all three of their losses at the Stadio Olimpico so far have been to Roma, Juventus, and Napoli.

Crotone certainly won’t be easy foes as they now know the fight for survival has kicked into another gear, but the hosts should be able to take advantage of Crotone’s road struggles and finally get back to winning ways.
