Torino vs Hellas Verona
2017/18 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 1st October 2017
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Turin).
Torino will hope to recover from a crushing derby loss when they take on a floundering Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon.
The Derby della Mole was nothing short of a shambles for the Granata, albeit having a man sent off early on did not help Torino one bit as they were humiliated 4-0 by Juventus. It was a major setback, especially how well Torino have fared this season and the red card heavily limited the attacking options they had at their disposal. With that in mind, and given how badly Verona have done, they will certainly be keen on taking out their frustrations on their hapless visitors this weekend.
Verona look set to follow in the footsteps of other newly promoted sides, quite akin to Pescara last season, who went down as quickly as they popped back up in the top flight. They have earned a miserable two points, albeit they haven’t had the best of luck when it comes from fixture lists. So far, the Gialloblu have had to play Napoli, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Roma, but such is the luck of the draw, and battled hard to earn a draw with Sampdoria.
Crotone was the team they should have earned all three points against, but they were unable to do so, and now they will take on a team who will be eager to pick up three points ahead of the international break. With the kind of firepower Torino boast, Verona will be in for another long afternoon, to say the least.
Torino vs Verona: Head-to-head statistics
- Torino have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 home matches.
- Verona have lost 5 of their last 6 away matches.
- Verona have failed to score in their last 5 matches.
- Torino are undefeated in 12 of their last 13 home matches.
Torino vs Verona: Prediction
This will represent a great chance for Torino not just to get back on track, but for their attackers to pad their stats. Verona have scored just one measly goal all season, and despite Torino having still some defensive problems, it’s hard to see how the Gialloblu can pose much of an attacking threat, especially considering they didn’t even score against Crotone, who are a fellow relegation candidate.
