Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders FC
Major League Soccer
Date: Monday, 26th June 2017
Kick-off at 3:00 UK /4:00 CET
Venue: Providence Park, Portland.

After their midweek obligations, Portland and Seattle will collide in the last match of Week 17 in Major Soccer League.

Portland Timbers

The hosts are coming off a defeat in Minnesota. Wednesday’s clash was certainly an odd one – two red cards and two own goals, but the Timbers still suffered a defeat.

They are in the 3rd place in the Western Conference. Portland can fight for the top two places, but the zone from the 3rd to 6th position is a realistic destination for the Timbers.

Portland were beaten twice at Providence Park this season; they also won five matches while drawing two.

Seattle Sounders

The Sounders suffered a painful two-point drop as they hosted Orlando City. Seattle was up 1-0 until the 94th minute when the Lions equalized after Kaka’s assist.

They are only in the 8th place with 20 points and they need to improve their form immediately in order to stay in the battle for the playoffs. Seattle’s MLS visits are a problem ahead of the Sunday’s clash – they were beaten in the last four games on the road.

Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders: Head-to-head

The recent meetings between the two sides heavily favored the hosting side. The last time a guest won in their confrontations was back in 2014, when Seattle grabbed the 2-4 victory in Portland. Excluding their latest MLS clash, both sides usually managed to score at least a goal each.

Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders: Prediction

Portland need to use Seattle’s away struggles to get back on the track and remain in the upper part of the standings. Both sides are a bit exhausted after the tight schedule, so starting lineups could play their role in Sunday’s meeting if the managers decide to offer a chance to fresher players.
