Sweden vs Luxembourg
World Cup Qualifiers – Europe (Group A)
Date: Saturday, 7th October 2017
Kick off at 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Friends Arena.
Sweden have the imperative of taking three points in the penultimate round of the WC Qualification against Luxembourg on Saturday evening at Friends Arena in Solna.
The hosts are a single point behind France at the top of the standings, but they could also likely lose the playoffs spots in case of a failure against Luxembourg having in mind the tough away fixture at Netherlands in the last round.
Janne Andresson’s men dropped the ball in the seventh round when they lost 3-2 in Bulgaria, but they managed to bounce back quickly by beating Belarus 0-4 on the road a month ago.
We have to praise their attacking line (the most efficient attack in the Group A) led by Marcus Berg and Emil Forsberg who bagged four goals each so far.
The hosts should have plenty of room to deliver in the final third if we know that Luxembourg have the weakest defensive line in the group.
Blagult will, however, have to be super careful since Luxembourg will travel to Solna in high spirits after getting four points in two games in September.
This includes a shocking goalless draw against France on the road in the previous round.
Sweden vs Luxembourg: Head to head
Sweden have entirely dominated this matchup over the history winning four and drawing one of their previous five encounters with Luxembourg.
The visitors scored no more than a single goal in five mentioned matches, but they did not concede loads either as Sweden won each of their last two games with Luxembourg by a single goal margin.
Sweden vs Luxembourg: Prediction
Since Luxembourg kept back-to-back clean sheets in September (against Belarus and France), we believe they should be able to prevent Sweden from netting four or more goals here.
