The last game of the 4th round sees Sunderland taking on Leeds United. These are two strong teams with ambitions for top 6 finish and will be interesting to see if they can outsmart each other.
Sunderland Held Wednesday to draw last game. The team took an early lead through Honeyman which kept until half time. Sunderland was doing a very good job at keeping Sheffield away from Steel’s goal but an outstanding individual long range effort managed to level the score.
Leeds also drew their last game. The team played Fulham at home. The visitors controlled the midfield but failed to create many chances. Leeds were defending well giving Fulham little to no space in their half. The final result was of course a goalless draw.
Form and Tactical Analysis
The Black Cats so far have played one game at home and It ended in a 1-1 draw against Derby County. The two away fixtures saw them getting 4 points. The highlight so far was the 1-3 away victory over Norwich which showed that the team is capable of defeating any opponent.
Simon Grayson likes to field his team in a traditional 4-4-2 formation. The team likes to go on the offensive with new boy Grabban and James Vaughan playing as two equal strikers. McGeady and Honeyman are depended for width although McGeady plays higher up the pitch than his collegue on the right.
Leeds opened the season with an entertaining game against Bolton. They won 3-2 forging a 3-1 lead before half time. This performance was followed by a more typical one. Last season they had one of the best home defensive lines and we saw that in their last 2 games. 2 goalless draws against Fulham and Preston showed that Leeds has the same formidable defensive line from last season but even less lethal attacking force.
The team plays in a 4-2-3-1 formation heavily depending upon the top scorer Chris Wood. The bad thing is that when the target man is not in his best form the teams scoring potential goes all the way down to none. Experienced midfielder Pablo Hernandez tries to organize the play but the team lacks sharpness up front.
