Strasbourg vs Nice
France Ligue 1
Date: Saturday 22nd December 2018
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Stade de la Meinau (Strasbourg).
Strasbourg can leapfrog Nice if they win this game so there is a lot to play for when these two teams clash on Saturday evening.
The home side have been in average form as they have gone their past 3 games without a win and we need to go back to the beginning of the month for their last win. They have since then drew against PSG which was a huge result for them. They come into this game in 9th place.
Whilst overall Strasbourg do have a decent home record we have to note that their recent performances have been under par. This includes not winning a game at home for the past 2 months and drawing 3 out of their last 4 games.
Nice have been solid and manager Patrick Vieira has had a very good start to his career in France. They have gone on a long run without defeat and have won 9 points from their last 15. A win here could take the club into the top 5. The only complaint is that lately they have started games very slowly and keep going behind, and as a result Nice have drawn their last three matches in a row.
But here is the rub; they have the 2nd best away record in the league where from a possible 24 points they have won 15 and lost just one game away all season.
Strasbourg vs Nice: Head to Head
- Last season this fixture ended 1-1.
- Nice have just 1 win in 15 years at Strasbourg and that victory came in 2008.
- 5 from the last 7 games have ended in under 2.5 goals.
Strasbourg vs Nice: Prediction
This is a match for us that has draw written all over it. However predicting the draw after 90 minutes is always difficult so we will back this at half time as our main bet.
We are set to see a very physical game between two teams that don’t like to give the ball up. Nice need to learn to start the game quickly and not be so lethargic. But this is going to be a very close call with both teams having equal possession.
