Newly promoted Start will take on Tromso in the opening round of Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday afternoon. Home side is looking for snatching some points from the opening clash, while the visitors want to improve in compare to the last season.
Start booked their ticket for the top flight as the second-placed side in 1. Division. Although they were pressured by several teams who challenged them, they managed to remain focused and keep their direct promotion spot. Mark Dempsey’s side was very efficient in the last season, while their defence was doing a good job. When playing on the home pitch, Start allowed only two defeats and booked nine victories. In this season, they primarily want to secure their place in the top-tier and avoid going down after just one season in Eliteserien.
Away side was struggling a lot during the last campaign, and most of the time they were in the relegation zone. However, their furious finish when they booked 16 points in 7 games launched them to the 11th position and six points away from the red zone. Tromso were doing very well in the final third, but their main concern was a leaking defence. Their latest signing, experienced defender Tom Hogli should help them improve their defensive work. If they can pick up where they’ve left off, they won’t have many troubles of securing the survival at the end of the season.
