St Patricks Athletic vs Derry City
League of Ireland Premier Division
Date: Friday, 18 May 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Richmond Park (Dublin).
One of the most interesting matches of the 18th round in Irish Premier Division is going to be contested between St Patrick’s and Derry City.
After a poor start of the season, home side managed to improve their game and they tied three straight wins. Simon Madden and the lads tightened up their defence and they managed to keep the clean sheet in the last three games. St Patrick’s have been laying very well at home as they suffered only one defeat in front of their fans. With a victory in this one, they might get involved in the battle for the Europa League spot.
The visitors have the same number of points as their rivals, but they failed to celebrate a victory in the last three matches. Kenny Shiels’ side has been very productive this season with 29 goals scored so far, however their defending should have been at a higher level. Their away performances have been decent so far as they managed to get back with a win three times this season. This is important clash for both sides as they can catch up the top three teams with a potential win.
Both sides have been equally successful in their head to head clashes lately and it is very interesting that the we were able to see only two home victories in the last nine occasions. Their recent clashes have been pretty efficient and both teams were capable of finding the back of the net last four times.
This is going to be very tight clash as both sides are similarly strengthened. It wouldn’t be surprising if this one ends with a draw. St Patrick’s are very good at home, however the visitors are also putting confident performances at away grounds.
Derry City have been involved in high scoring matches very often this season, while St Patrick’s are very efficient when playing at home. They might tie the fifth match in a row in which both sides managed to find the back of the net.
