St. Johnstone vs Rangers
Scotland – Premiership
Date: 13th October 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: McDiarmid Park.
The victory at the visit to McDiarmid Park would mean a lot for Rangers’ ambitions of staying in touch with Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership standings, but it will be quite a challenging task for the Teddy Bears considering the Saints’ impressive run of form on the home patch so far in the season.
The Saints are actually all tied with Rangers at the third position having gathered 14 points from opening eight fixtures.
Tommy Wright’s men won’t, however, come into the game in the best of moods following a demolishing 3-0 loss to Aberdeen before the international break.
The Teddy Bears, on the other side, recovered from a yet another defeat in the Old Firm derby by netting as many as four in a commanding attacking display at Hamilton Academical last time out.
Cardiff City’s loanee Declan John took advantage of the opportunity by netting a brace in his second appearance for Rangers and he will again be the main target in the final third for Pedro Caixinha’s side.
St. Johnstone vs Rangers: Head to head
Rangers won 27 of 38 previous encounters with St. Johnstone. Interestingly, each of their last five meetings saw both teams on the scoresheet including a narrow 1-2 victory for the Teddy Bears in mid-May at McDiarmid Park.
St. Johnstone vs Rangers: Prediction
Rangers are 8/15 to get away with points here, but we can hardly see any value there given St. Johnstone’s fine home run.
Wright’s men took three wins and a draw in last four league outings at McDiarmid Park and we’ll back them to avoid a defeat against Caixinha’s men at 8/5.
