Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord: Preview and Predictions

Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord
Dutch Eredivisie
Date: Sunday, 17 December 2017
Kick-Off: 11:30 UK
Venue: Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel (Rotterdam).

Feyenoord have killed the momentum ahead of the city derby with Sparta Rotterdam as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Heerenveen on Saturday evening at De Kuip. The team led by Giovanni van Bronckhorst has thus further lost ground on the top likes in Eredivisie and they just have the imperative of snatching a three-pointer against the relegation-threatened counterparts here.

Luckily for van Bronckhorst, his men should really not have too many troubles storming past the city rivals who have indeed been struggling badly in this term of Eredivisie. The hosts share the rock-bottom of the standings with Roda JC after suffering the third loss on the bounce on Thursday when they conceded three goals away at Heracles.

De Kasteelheren have thus conceded three goals on two separate occasions in last three league outings. Interestingly, they’ve held the runaway leaders PSV to a narrow 1-0 loss at Philips-Stadion in the meantime.

Steven Berghius was the one who put Feyenoord ahead in mid-week against Heerenveen to take his league tally to eight goals. Sparta’s horrendous run of form at the back will be the music to his ears and he should have plenty of space to keep the fine form going on Sunday.

Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord: Predictions

Feyenoord are 14 points below PSV at the top of the standings and they just can’t afford any mote slip-ups if they are to keep the dream of defending the silverware alive.

Sparta just don’t have the quality to stay competitive against the likes of Feyenoord at this point and the only logical bet here would be the away win at the odds of 1.40.

Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord: Bet Tips

  • Feyenoord to win 1.40
  • Steven Berghuis to score anytime 2.10
