SPAL vs Bologna: Match Preview
Leonardo Semplici’s men have produced the biggest upset of the season by beating in-form Atalanta 2-1 away from home despite being down at the half-time. They have left the bottom and leapfrogged fellow strugglers Genoa and Brescia to move into 18th place on the ladder, one point off of safety.
Gli Spalini will be hoping to build on that success and snap their five-game winless run at the Stadio Paolo Mazza when they entertain tricky Bologna this weekend.
SPAL have collected eight points from nine home games this season, scoring 0.89 goals per match and conceding 1.44. They have fell to a 0-2 defeat to Hellas Verona in their latest home fixture.
I Veltri failed to bounce back from Torino loss as they played out another 1-1 draw at the Stadio Renato Dell’Ara, this time with Hellas Verona. Nonetheless, Bologna climbed up on the Serie A ladder as Udinese suffered a late loss at San Siro.
Currently 12th, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side will be eager to rediscover their December form and record their first win since the mid-season break.
Bologna have recorded three wins, two draws and five losses away from Renato Dall’Ara, averaging 1.40 goals netted per game, whilst shipping 1.70. The Emilia-Romagna team racked up six points from last five away games (2-0-3).

SPAL vs Bologna: Prediction
Gli Spalini are coming off of a big, potentially season-changing win, and I’m positive they will be attacking-minded on Saturday. With shorthanded, but still dangerous Veltri on the other side, I won’t even try to pick a winner here. Instead, I’m hitting goals market big-time.
This clash should yield goals on both ends and that will be my main pick here. Both teams have scored in 80 percent of Bologna’s away games and even though SPAL numbers are not as impressive (56%) due to their dreadful goalscoring record of late at Paolo Mazza, I’m confident they will get on the scoresheet here.
As for my second bet, I’ll go with Over 2.5 goals.
