Shrewsbury vs Lincoln City: Prediction
A disappointing away trip for The Shrews came to an end as Niall Ennis and Tom Anderson lead Doncaster Rovers towards securing all three points in Tuesday night’s League One clash.
Shrewsbury’s currently at 15th, one step ahead of their next rivals with a game in hand and two points advantage. They’re safe in the middle of the table, with no real danger of relegation at the moment and with a whiff of chance of getting involved in promotion fight but Rickett’s men must put an end to their winless run and string a couple of wins for that to happen.
The Blues have decent, above average record playing at New Meadow. Five wins and three draws from eleven games with a null goal difference paint a picture of a team hard to break down, who doesn’t take unnecessary risks and will do anything to get a win.
The Imps suffered their twelfth defeat of the season at Stadium of Light as The Black Cats rapid-fired their way to victory, ending Lincoln’s two-game winning streak.
Defeat at Sunderland made that third consecutive loss away from home, bringing back the unpleasant memories of horrific September’s slump. Still, current situation isn’t as bad, Michael Appleton’s pupils aren’t relegation threatened anymore as they sit at 16th, with thirty points from 24 games.
Out of their twelve defeats this season, ten were inflicted away from LNER Stadium, rating the Imps just a hair above the worst teams in the league. Most of those matches were really close affairs, with Lincoln being out of luck in crucial moments.
I’m having a tough time deciding what to go with in this clash. I can see this match being boring and drab to watch, pretty much as their first duel this year. But gun to my head, if I had to recommend something, it would be Over 0.5 goals in the first half as The Imps have either scored or conceded at least a goal in first 45 minutes in last seven away games.
This is more of a hunch, but I honestly think we’re in for a répète of their last encounter, each side canceling one another and match ending with no winners.
