Sheffield United vs Preston North End
England – Championship
Date: Saturday, 28 April 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Bramall Lane (Sheffield).
Preston halted their push for the playoffs failing to break the deadlock against the likes of Norwich City last time out at Deepdale. They are now in a very tough situation being four points short of Derby County in sixth and only a miracle in the remaining two games of the campaign could lead them into the post-season fixtures.
The Lilywhites will have a very tough challenge on Saturday, much tougher than the one they had seven days ago. They are about to pay a visit to Bramall Lane and take on table-neighbours and fellow playoffs chasers Sheffield United.
The Blades spent most of the season inside the top six in the ladder, but thy just couldn’t find consistency when they actually needed it most. Chris Wilder’s men won just one of last seven games in the league and they will come into this off the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss to relegation strugglers Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s.
Sheffield United vs Preston North End: Head-to-head
The Blades were super dominant in the history of home matches against Preston North End, whom they defeated 27 times in 38 matches at Bramall Lane.
Furthermore, the Lilywhites managed to snatch spoils on just four occasions in 38 visits to Sheffield (when they faced United).
This will be the third H2H game between Sheffield United and Preston this season.
The Lilywhites took a 1-0 win in the league clash, while the Blades got the revenge clinching the victory with the same scoreline in January this year when the teams locked horns in the FA Cup.
Sheffield United vs Preston North End: Prediction
The Blades are generally a tough nut to crack in their own backyard. They stand undefeated in last seven home games in the league, none of which saw them concede two or more goals. Given that Preston had certain woes on their most recent travels, and that they have a devastating record in matches at Bramall Lane, we’ll try with the Lilywhites not to score two or more goals as sort of a banker at 1.40.
Since the match has a massive importance for both teams, we do expect to witness high tension in and off the court and very few goal-scoring chances at both ends. The alternative bet would thus be Under 2.5 goals FT at the 1.95 odds.
