Sheffield United vs Burton Albion
England – Championship
Date: Tuesday, 13th March 2018
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Bramall Lane (Sheffield).
Sheffield United look to close the gap on top six with a win against relegation bound Burton Albion in this midweek’s Championship fixture.
This match was originally scheduled to be played on 3rd March 2018 and was rescheduled after the original fixture got postponed due to bad weather conditions.
Sheffield United were held to a goal-less draw by Ipswich on the weekend and this result widened their gap with the promotion play-off zone to 5-points.
Meantime, Burton Albion share the spoils from a 0-0 draw with Bristol City at their home turf. The team is now 23rd in the 24-teams table, but a win here will temporarily lift them to the safe zone.
Tuesday’s match will mark Sheffield United’s first home game in the month of March. Their last 4 league games were on the road and they picked 1 win and 1 draw while losing twice.
United’s last two home games saw them edging victories against QPR and Leeds by the same 2-1 margin.
Burton on the other hand, are on a three match win-less run, 1 draw and 2 losses. All the three games were played at their home turf and the team failed to score in the process.
The Brewers’ last away game was a 2-1 win at Barnsley back in February. Interestingly, Nigel Clough’s men have more wins on the road (5 from 17 matches) and double the points of what they earned at home ground.
Sheffield United grabbed a comfortable 3-1 win when the teams met early this season.
The result also break Burton’s 4 match unbeaten run over United, 3 wins and 1 draws.
Sheffield are without a win in three home games against Burton and indeed they lost all three.
On paper, Sheffield United seem to be the better team as they were successful against majority of the oppositions at the Bramall Lane this season.
Burton are in all sorts of trouble and if you score you can’t expect to win matches. The Brewers scored just once in their last six Championship games and they are bound to go down on Tuesday once again.
