Shanghai SIPG vs Guangzhou Evergrande
China – Super League
Date: Friday, 14 June 2019
Kick Off @ 13:00 UK/ 14:00 CET
Venue: Shanghai Stadium (Shanghai).
It will be the pride that comes with the win, rather than just the three points, for the fans and the players on Friday when the home side welcomes seven time champions Guangzhou Evergrande to the Shanghai Stadium.
It is the first time that they go head to head on the pitch against each other, after Shanghai SIPG were crowned champions of the 2018 season, bringing the away side’s seven year title streak to a big halt.
A win for Shanghai will see them go on top of the table, provided current leaders Beijing Guoan fail to secure a win in their next match, while a win for Cannavaro’s men will see his team jump over Shanghai to secure the second position in the table.

Shanghai SIPG vs Guangzhou Evergrande Prediction
The odds for a win are in favour of Shanghai SIPG, who will be taking on Guangzhou Evergrande at the Shanghai Stadium on Friday. The home team have lost only once this season on home soil, and the visitors are most likely to leave with a defeat than an end to the home team’s streak.
Despite both teams boasting an impeccable five on five winning streak, the Hulk led Shanghai squad are most likely to edge past the visitors who have lost only twice this season. Having amassed ten goals in two matches while conceding just two, there is no doubt that Fabio Cannavaro’s men are in fine form and could well give Shanghai a tough 90 minutes to withstand.
The home side have been scoring consistently in the first half for a few matches now, and chances are that they will on Friday as well. The away team, with three clean sheets in five matches under their belt, will have to be extra careful in the defensive third if they are to bring the home side’s scoring streak to a halt.
We can surely expect a goal or two down each side of the pitch, with a clean sheet for either of the teams looking definitely out of the question.
