Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira still waiting for Chelsea move

Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira is still hopeful that he can move to English Premier League outfit Chelsea in the near future.

The uncapped Brazilian wants to play for a bigger club this year and has already set his sights onto a move to Premier League club Chelsea.

Despite various publications claiming earlier in December that a deal has been agreed between the player and the club, no concrete sources have confirmed a deal in place.

Alex Teixeira is in terrific goal scoring form for Shakhtar Donetsk in the league after netting 22 times so far this season.

A move to Stamford Bridge may be still on the cards, but the price tag set by the Ukrainian outfit may be a stumbling block for a deal to go through at this point of time.

Shakhtar are holding out for a £30million (€40m) transfer fee for their star player at the moment with and their head coach Lucescu believes the price may shoot up further at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old reveals that his primary motivation to switch to England is to play in a more competitive league which helps him earn a place in Dunga’s Brazil national squad.

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is troubled by recent injuries to the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard and it remained to be seen if the club is willing to splash out £30million for a player in the middle of the season.

The Stamford Bridge outfit find themselves 14th in the Premier League table after the 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday and little has changed since the departure of Jose Mourinho.

On the other hand, Chelsea have reportedly stepped up talks to sign Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato and the deal is expected to complete before the end of this week.
