Sevilla vs Leganes
Spain – Copa del Rey
Date: Wednesday, 7 February 2018
Kick-Off at 20:30 UK
Venue: Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan (Sevilla).
Sandro Ramirez’s Sevilla debut went terribly wrong with Los Rojiblancos losing 5-1 away at Eibar in the weekend’s La Liga action. This will clearly be encouraging news for Leganes who’ve proved that they are well capable of making upsets in the previous round when they had eliminated Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey.
The result from the first leg at Estadio Municipal de Butarque gives Sevilla the much better position in the battle for the final, but one goal from the Legionaries can lead the tie into a whole new direction. This is what Asier Garitano will be looking for and we can expect the visitors to stand deep and keep the pressure on Sevilla’s half early on to try and take advantage of the momentum and stun the hosts at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
This will thus be a huge test for Vincenzo Montella as a failure here would practically ruin the season for the hosts who will hardly catch the top four spots in Primera Division after most recent slip ups. Leganes might not have a predator in the final third, but the likes of Gabriel (five goals in Primera Division), Claudio Beauvue and Nabil Amrabat can cause harm to any defense in Spain.
Sevilla vs Leganes: Head-to-head
The head to head stats entirely favour Los Rojiblancos given that they’ve only lost one of ten matches against Leganes.
At Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Sevilla have won four and drawn one of five games against the Legionaries.
Interestingly, each of last six H2H encounters has seen both teams on the scoresheet.
Sevilla vs Leganes: Prediction
Sevilla are 1.40 favourites according to the bookies, but there is definitely no value in such bet given that the hosts will head into this off the back f a demolishing 5-1 loss away at Eibar at the weekend.
Since all of last six meetings between the two teams have seen the BTTS option “come in”, and since Sevilla have shown plenty of defensive holes of late, we have to take the BTTS pick at the sky-high 2.05 odds here.
Also, Leganes are undefeated in last five games in all competitions (including the 1-2 win over Real Madrid in the quarterfinal of Copa del Rey), and we’ll go with Leganes mot to lose by two or more goals as an alternative option at 1.65.
